Life

  • Entering my sixth year of living in Koenji. I’m never going to leave.
  • Still employed by Varnish Software.
  • Managed to run 100km in November! Doing the same for December, though it’s going to be mostly indoor runs this month due to the weather. Thankfully, the nearby gym finally updated their equipment, and they now have Apple Watch integration.
  • The weather is getting very cold around here (down to 1℃ on some days) with exceptionally low indoor RH% levels (20-30%). As someone with allergies, buying a warm mist humidifier is still one of the best purchases in recent years.
  • Finally finished Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail main story (and the 7.1 main story). While I found it to be not as bad as many people have complained (I quite like the fact WoL is mostly just a bystander this time around), it is definitely one of the weakest for sure.

Tech

  • Hoping to dedicate more time into maintaining Varnish Helm Chart (there are pending backports, and pending PR fixes in the pipeline). Happy to see it’s being used in more and more places.
  • Did an ESP32 thing (IR transmitter + temperature/humidity sensor using ESPHome). Had a lot of fun designing the case. Very satisfied with how it turned out.
  • Migrated this blog from Pelican back to Hakyll because I can’t get Pelican to run (again). Given that I’m now using Nix and Flake for everything, hopefully it will make building Hakyll easier in the long run (Cabal is also easier to work with than Stack).
  • It has been a long while since I haven’t had a major side project running in the background. Thinking of what to do next. I think I’m done with building a community (for now). I hope to build something actually useful next.
  • Finally bit the bullet and redone all the networking in my household. CCR2004-16G-2S+ that I’ve been using as a dumb switch since COVID is now being used for its intended use case (a gateway). Bonus: home network, IoTs, homelab now have its own VLAN!
